Will is Finally Here/Sadie and Marlene Visit!

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally!  I got my tush out to Maine.  After what seemed like an eternity of student teaching, and graduating, and packing it was time for me to get out to the Pine Tree State.

Somewhere during the GreeNagy holiday someone came up with the idea that Sadie and her BFF Marlene* should ride with Maureen, Grady, Rocky, and all my stuff in my Forester.  As crazy as that sounds it ended up being a great idea as it made the trip 85x more fun.  It also made Sadie and Marlene our first official visitors.
*Sorry to Marlene.  I don't know how to put the little accent mark over the first "e".

I should also mention that due to the fact that my Subaru is a stick shift and only men can drive those, I drove each of the 940 or so miles on our trip with, I think, only 3 three stops.  (As I type this I am flexing and thinking about how much of a man I am.)  Special thanks also to James Brown Jr. for giving me a killer deal on my Uhaul trailer and a hitch.

Sadie and Marlene at brunch.

Anyone who visits will get to go here with us.  Bintilff's American Cafe has amaaaaazing food with an emphasis on brunch.  Who doesn't love brunch!

Group shot!

Cape Elizabeth's rocky coast.

I'm probably contemplating my existence or something here...

Sadie. Striking a pose.

The Goddard Mansion at Fort Williams Park

The Lobster Shack at Two Lights.  Closed for the season but still a great view.

Sadie.

Looks like Maureen is contemplating her existence now...

More rocky coast shots...

And again...

We did a dinner at the Sea Dog Brewing Company.  Its a fun/cool restaurant in South Portland.  It was trivia night so we decided to play and ended up getting 4th!  2 spots away from $20 in Sea Dog Bucks!  Good job Mittens!

Apartment Found!

On that first trip it wasn't until 7:00 p.m. on our last day in Maine that we found an apartment! Whew!  But lucky for us it is really cute, just a few hundred feet from UNE, Maureen's school, and we have a great landlord.  By great, I mean he pronounces "lobstah", "chowdah" and all his other words with an awesomely thick Maine accent, and he loves Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm.  Could it get any better???

Ta da!  Our apartment is the top floor of the front.

Our cute porch.  It is a 4 unit building but ours is the only one that uses this entrance.

Our own driveway.  Nice.

Our next door neighbors, St. Joseph's on the left and St. Brigid School on the right.

Stoop!

Why, come right in!

Try and get a couch up that.  Seriously.  I dare you.

Eat in kitchen.  It's pretty huge.
